The Ninth Annual Gaspereau Press Wayzgoose
24 & 25 October 2008 (Kentville, NS)

This year's wayzgoose will feature two special guests: wood engraver and letterpress publisher Wesley Bates of Clifford, Ontario; and Jim Rimmer, an illustrator, letterpress printer and typefounder from New Westminster, BC. Also on the agenda are workshops, a shop talk, an open house, printing demonstrations, evening lectures, and author readings from some of Gaspereau's 2008 titles. The schedule of events is as follows:

Friday

7:00-11:00 pm
Evening Reading at the Kentville Rec Centre: Readings by Karen Houle, Ami McKay & Johanna Skibsrud. Music by Bob Snider. Free Admission.

Saturday

9:00 am-Noon
Book Arts Workshops: Book Binding and Paper Marbling workshops. Preregistration required. Space limited. Click here for details.

9:30-11:30 am
Fiction for Breakfast at Paddy's Pub, Kentville: Have breakfast and talk books with novelists Ven Begamudré, Andrew Steinmetz & Ami McKay, hosted by Susan Haley. Cash breakfast.

10:00 am-Noon
Shop Talk at the Gaspereau Press Printing Works: Featuring special guests Wesley Bates and Jim Rimmer. If you're not in a workshop, drop in and putter around in the print shop with Wesley, Jim and our staff. The popular offcut paper sale will also be in its early hours. Free Admission.

1:30-3:30 pm
Afternoon reading at the Kentville Rec Centre: Readings by Ven Begamudré, Andrew Steinmetz & Kent Thompson. Free Admission.

3:30-5:00 pm
Open House at the Gaspereau Press Printing Works: Enjoy conversation and refreshments, meet authors & illustrators, see printing demonstrations, hit up the offcut paper sale. Special guests Wesley Bates and Jim Rimmer will be on hand to display and discuss their work. Free Admission.

7:00-10:00 pm
Evening Book Arts Presentations at the Kentville Rec Centre: Slide and talks by Wesley Bates (on the history of wood engraving) and Jim Rimmer (on printing and typefounding). Music by Bob Snider. Free Admission.

10:00 am-Noon
Morning Nature Walk: Explore Kentville's wild side with Soren Bondrup-Nielsen & Merritt Gibson. (Meeting spot to be announced.) Where are the events?

All events will take place in Kentville, Nova Scotia, at either The Gaspereau Press Printing Works 47 Church Avenue (Green building behind King's Arms Pub), Kentville Rec Centre 354 Main Street (Brick building attached to Town Hall), or Paddy's Pub (42 Aberdeen Street).
