New Writer in Residence UNB Fredericton
Fiction writer and poet, Gerard Beirne, has taken up his position as Writer-in-Residence at the University of New Brunswick for 2008-2009. Beirne, originally from Ireland, has lived in Canada for eleven years. His novel, The Eskimo in the Net (Marion Boyars, London), was short-listed for the Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award 2004. His collection of poems, Digging My Own Grave (Dedalus Press, Dublin) was second in the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award. His short story, "Sightings of Bono," was adapted for film featuring Bono (U2).
