Russell Banks Coming to Frye Fest 2008

Russell Banks, renowned American author, will be at the 2008 Frye Festival. Some of his works include Affliction and The Sweet Hereafter, both turned into major motion pictures. His forthcoming novel, The Reserve, set in the Adirondacks in 1936-37 at the height of the Great Depression, will be published in early 2008. Banks will be in Moncton for key Festival events, including the Writing for Film workshop. More details soon!

Dorothy Livesay Celebration

World Poetry Reading Series First Call:

Poems or stories to or about Canadian Poet Dorothy Livesay for Life
Celebration October 29th at the VPL!

World Poetry is requesting poems and stories about the well known Canadian
Poet Dorothy Livesay to be on display at The World Poetry Life Celebration
of Dorothy Livesay, October 29 at the Vancouver Public Library (Central
Branch) in the Alice McKaye room.

Please not the following rules:

1) One poem only please. Note: If the poem is in two languages, one page per
language is permitted.

2) Size 12 -14 fonts.

3) Name, city and country with a copyright symbol at the bottom.

4) All poems are copyrighted to the writer and used for display purposes
only on October 29th. After the event, they will be destroyed unless we have
the author's permission to use them at a later date.

WFNB Members Book Launch/Reading in Miramichi

Words on Water begins its 2007 season with the launch of The Vagrant Review of New Fiction, released in May. This anthology features three New Brunswick writers as well as writers from Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. Judy Bowman of Miramichi, Brent White of Fredericton and Lee Thompson of Moncton will read excerpts from their stories on Tuesday June 12 from 6-8 pm at Edgewater Gallery, 1733 Water Street in Chatham, Miramichi.
