Joan Clark Reading
Author Joan Clark will be reading from her latest novel, An Audience of Chairs, on Wednesday, March 1 at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. The reading will be held at 8pm in Memorial Hall and is free and open to the public.
Ms. Clark has written several novels, two collections of short fiction and a number of award-winning children's stories. In 1989, she won the Canadian Authors Association Literary Award for her first novel, The Victory of Geraldine Gull. She also received international acclaim for her last book, Latitudes of Melt (2001).
"Elegantly written and deeply grounded in place," An Audience of Chairs tells the story of "Mad" Moranna Mackenzie, a Cape Breton woman struggling with the loss of her daughters and the emerging signs of mental illness.
Joan Clark is a native of Nova Scotia and attended Acadia University. After living in Alberta for a number of years, Ms. Clark has returned to Atlantic Canada. She now resides in St. John's, Newfoundland, where she writes full-time.
